How do I play?

Hold the phone in landscape. The stick on the left swings the speargun; the trigger on the right fires. Tapping the water aims there without firing, so you can swing across the reef fast and still choose your moment. A round is 60 seconds and 15 shots — whichever runs out first ends it.

Where the points come from

There is a full scoring page inside the game: tap How scoring works on the title screen, or Scoring on the results screen. Every figure on it is read from the game's own rules, so it is never out of date.

The short version: each creature has its own value, a clean shot in the front third of a big one pays 20% more, every three catches in a row steps a multiplier up to ×5, and spearing the treasure in the chest triples everything for nine seconds.

My shot connected but nothing happened

Two things can cause that, and both are deliberate. A creature that has dived out of the spear's plane is drawn behind the water — dimmer, washed toward the water's own colour — and a spear travels in one plane, so it passes by. Wait for it to rise. Second, the harpoon stops on the first thing it touches, so a minnow crossing in front of a marlin will take the shot.

Why did I lose points?

You speared the protected animal — a dolphin on most reefs, a sea otter in the kelp forest, a coelacanth in the deep. It outlines in mint, which nothing else does. It costs points, breaks your combo and spends the shot, but your score never drops below zero.

I bought a reef and it hasn't appeared

Open Maps and tap Restore purchases. The game asks the App Store what your Apple ID actually owns, so a reinstall or a second device gets your reefs back. If it still doesn't appear, email us with the Apple ID you bought it on and we'll sort it out.

Does buying a reef make the game easier?

No, and it can't. The clock, the shot count and the scoring are identical on every reef, and high scores are kept per reef so no two are ever compared. The coral reef is the only home of three creatures, and even so it reaches a lower top score than the free wreck does.

Turning off the sound

The speaker button on the title screen mutes everything at once — music, effects and the haptics.

Is there advertising?

No, and there never will be. See the privacy page: the game collects nothing and makes no network calls of its own.
